Sir, – The assertion that the opposition to Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the US supreme court is just because he is a conservative Catholic, or because he is the choice of Donald Trump (September 29th) ignores the fact that Mr Trump’s previous nominee, Neil Gorsuch, also met these two criteria. But what is different is that he did not face accusations as serious as those being levelled at Mr Kavanaugh. – Yours, etc,
