Sir, – My wife recently bought a gift card from the Avoca online store and the shipping cost was €5.50. This seemed to be a bit expensive for the postage of a gift card in Ireland.
However, when the card arrived, it was in a small red envelope which was inside a larger white envelope which was wrapped in paper. The package was then placed in a bigger Jiffy bag.
Finally the now four-times wrapped card was put in a much larger plastic bag.
This is a ridiculous waste of paper and plastic and not the sort of behaviour that is acceptable in a world suffering a climate and biodiversity crisis.
