Two new wines from Lidl this week. Both are on special offer while stocks last. Muscadet has always been one of my favourite wines and often offers great value for money. If you like refreshing unoaked wines, it is worth giving it a try. Ribera del Duero is one of the best-known quality red wines in Spain. It is more full-bodied than Rioja and goes really well with more substantial dishes.
Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie 2023
12% abv, €10.99 from Lidl
Light and fresh with clean apple and pear fruits, finishing dry. Locally they would enjoy it with shellfish and lighter fish dishes. It would also make a nice aperitif.
Selected Vineyards 270 Ribera del Duero 2021, Spain
14% abv, €10.99 from Lidl
Made from the tempranillo grape, this is a medium- to full-bodied smooth red with dark fruits, milk chocolate and spice. Perfect with roast lamb or a herby tomato and bean stew.
