O’Briens has a post-Christmas sale running this month, with plenty of wines on offer. As well as the two featured wines, I would recommend the svelte warming Ferraton Côtes du Rhône Samorëns (€13.95, down from €16.95), perfect for winter drinking, as well as the very keenly priced Condes De Albarei Albariño (€12.95, down from €19.95) if you enjoy crisp, fruity dry white wines.

If you are on a tight budget the Los Coches Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah (both €8.95, down from €10.95) are very affordable, as is the light, refreshing Montelvini Promosso Frizzante (€10, down from 12.95) if you have something to celebrate.

All of the Wildflower range offer good value for money. The Pinot Grigio is fresh and lively with plenty of juicy pear and green apple fruits. A great sipping wine or with herby seafood dishes.
