Sir,– Frank McNally (An Irishman's Diary, April 1st) has exposed what many of us have suspected for ages, in that it is not even physically possible to read the clues in the time that some have completed the crosswords online. Why people feel the need to complete the Crosaire or Simplex online in less than the time it takes for most of us to check if the pen is working is beyond me. It's a good day if we can master it, never mind recording a time of 90 seconds in doing so. It's clear these are completed offline and typed in later. Whatever you are into, I suppose. – Yours, etc,
