Sir, – What is the point in having a service plan for 2022 ("HSE expects to recruit only half the extra staff it has funding for this year", News, March 2nd) when it is already out of date before it has been published?
Paul Reid’s excuse of “a challenging labour market environment” is wearing a bit thin at this stage. He needs to come clean about the salaries on offer to medical personnel (particularly consultants and the terms and conditions under which they are expected to work under ).
