Sir, – Whenever Russia is involved in expanding its imperial interests, as is currently happening in Syria, where its air force is actively involved in endangering the lives of millions of Syrians, half of whom are children, there is deafening silence or equivocation from the political left .
It seems to have a blind spot or myopic vision in not recognising there’s not a whit of difference between American and Russian expansionism.
The US or Russia have little or no respect for universal human rights when they conflict with their geopolitical self-interests.
The political left should be leading the protest against the crimes against humanity being perpetrated by the indiscriminate Russian bombardment of the innocent civilian population of Idlib in Syria.

Its political credibility as a traditional defender of universal human rights is at stake. – Yours, etc,
