Teachers, FF and equal pay

Sir, – After reading the article “Fianna Fáil seeks equal pay for teachers within two years” (News, August 25th), I am left deeply puzzled. Why should teachers or any other public sector workers be forced to suffer further years of discriminatory pay? I cannot believe Fianna Fáil, as the so-called main Opposition party, and which is supposed to hold the Government to account, would not immediately call for pay parity for younger entrants and support fully the principle of equal pay for equal work. This will not be forgotten at the next election. – Yours, etc,
